Tito Ortiz was once one of the most feared men to step foot inside the octagon. In April 2000, Ortiz defeated Wanderlei Silva to become the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. He would go on to defend the championship five times before losing it to Randy Couture. Now, for the first time in twelve years, Ortiz has another opportunity to sling gold over his shoulder.

Bellator recently announced a super-card which is set to take place in September which will be headlined by a Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Liam McGeary and Tito Ortiz. Ortiz has already cleared a space on his mantle for the Bellator title, apparently.

“I just cleared a spot for a Bellator world title,” Ortiz told MMAJunkie. “I see a lot of holes in his game… He’s great in standup, great on the ground. Do I do the jiu-jitsu game? Do I do the standup? On Sept. 19, we’re going to find out. I’m going to be the world champion. I’ve already set it in my mind as a self-fulfilling prophecy.”

Ortiz claims that he is distraction free, right now, and he is as dangerous as he can be when he walks into the cage with McGeary.

“I’m focused. Everything at home is perfect. When I’m focused and everything at home is right, I’m a dangerous 205-pounder.”

Ortiz is currently undefeated in Bellator with wins over Alexander Shlemenko and UFC veteran Stephan Bonnar. Do you think he has what it takes to win the gold from McGeary? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
