Tito vs. Fedor? Ortiz Open to Catchweight Bout with Emelianenko
Fedor Emelianenko is, without a doubt, the hottest free agent in the mixed martial arts world. Ultimate Fighting Championship has the opportunity to snag Fedor as his manager stated that there is no animosity between the two parties.
However, Bellator is backed by Viacom and both companies could see some big ratings on SPIKE if Emelianenko makes his way there. If Emelianenko eventually signs with Bellator, Tito Ortiz has expressed interest in stepping into the cage with “The Last Emperor”.
“I think Fedor is signing with Bellator, and if he can get down to 205 I would love to fight him,” Ortiz told Submission Radio. “I’ve always fought at 205, I will always fight at 205 because I know I’m in great shape when I fight at 205, but if Bellator could put that together… wow.”
Ortiz realizes that big-money opportunity that presents itself if he defeats Liam McGeary for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship.
“Can you imagine after I beat McGeary, me and Fedor for the light heavyweight title? That’d be amazing.” Ortiz also agreed that a catchweight bout with “The Last Emperor” would be a possibility if he was not willing to dip to light heavyweight.
