VIDEO | Watch James Gallagher, Charlie Ward pick up big stoppage wins at Bellator 217 in Dublin
Saturday night was a big night for Irish MMA, as Conor McGregor stablemates Charlie Ward and James Gallagher picked up big stoppage wins, and Khabib Nurmagomedov training partner Myles Price defeated McGregor cohort Peter Queally by decision. It all went down at Bellator 217 in Dublin.
Charlie Ward, who fought previously in the UFC, was up first. He needed less than one minute to dispatch of his foe Jamie Stephenson, sealing the deal with a thunderous left hook in the first round. This is Ward’s second first-round knockout victory in a row. He’s now 6-3 overall.
Peter Queally and Miles Price were next up on the Bellator 217 bill. Though Queally had some major successes early, Price stole the momentum in the latter phases of the bout, and ultimately won a split decision as a result. He now sits at 11-7-0, while Queally falls to 11-5-1 overall.
Last but certainly not least, James Gallagher returned to the Bellator cage in hopes of rebounding from a brutal knockout loss to Ricky Bandejas. In a bout that looked undeniably favorable for the Irish star, things went precisely according to plan, as he won with a rear-naked choke in the first round. He’s now 8-1 in sum.
