Benson Henderson drops surprising ‘f bomb’ on Twitter, explains why

Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson has earned the reputation as one of the most polite, and well spoken fighters in the world. After fighting out his contract with the UFC, Henderson signed with Bellator MMA in 2016.

In his first Bellator MMA fight, the former champ dropped a unanimous decision to Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 153 for the Bellator welterweight championship. Just four months later, ‘Smooth’ picked up a TKO win over Patricio Freire, also winning his first fight under the Bellator MMA banner. Unfortunately for Henderson, in his most recent fight he dropped a split decision to Michael Chandler for the Bellator lightweight championship.

Now, with six months since his last fight, Henderson is recovering from surgery, and looking to fight sometime between July and September. Surprisingly, Henderson took to Twitter to put the division on notice, using a very uncharacteristic ‘f bomb’ in his Tweet.

He explained why to MMAJunkie:

“It was an outburst,” Henderson said. “I feel I’m too composed for such outbursts. It is what it is. I’m not going to apologize, but I don’t think I’ll have any more outbursts like that. I don’t plan on it anyway.”

“What’s the old cliche? You never know what you have until it’s gone? I took so much of it as luxury that I didn’t appreciate, just being able to train,” Henderson said. “Being 100 percent healthy, I took it so much as a luxury. I get fired up sometimes, but I finally had enough. I had surgery (in December). It’s been however long now with me not being able to train and having to go corner guys for this fight or that fight, going to all these UFC and Bellator events. I get frustrated, and you have to vent your frustration somehow. Twitter is a good way for me to vent my frustration.”

Only time will tell if Benson Henderson is able to find similar success in Bellator MMA as he did in the UFC.
