Bethe Correia: I always said Ronda Rousey was mentally weak
Bethe Correia may have lasted only 34 seconds against Ronda Rousey during their UFC 190 title fight, but the Brazilian has been extremely vocal about Rousey ever since.
Rousey hasn’t fought since her knockout loss to Holly Holm back at UFC 193 and hasn’t had a fight lined up since relinquishing the belt to Holm a year ago. In fact, Dana White hasn’t been able to give a timeline for Rousey’s return, which may not happen until 2017, if at all.
Correia maintains that Rousey never had the mentality of a fighter and that the loss to Holm illustrated just that:
“Unfortunately, I didn’t get the win when I face Ronda so I could show everyone that I was telling the truth,” Correia said to MMAMania of her one-time foe. “I always said Ronda didn’t have a strong psychological side and the proof to that is that she’s been missing ever since she lost. Nobody knows what is going on with her. I don’t know how she is or what her reasons were, but I don’t think she’s doing all right.”
The former woman’s bantamweight champ knocked out Correia in a half a minute and the Brazilian was last seen losing a split decision to Raquel Pennington in April.
Correia is set to face Jessica Eye at UFC 203 this Saturday while Rousey remains quiet over when we can expect her return to the Octagon.
