BJ Penn Talks Possible Return & Cris Cyborg: “She’s as strong as anyone I’ve felt.”

By Drake Riggs - March 2, 2018

A masked invader broke into the UFC 222 open workouts and attacked the featherweight champ, Cris Cyborg the other day! Who would do such a thing?! Obviously the one and only ‘Prodigy’ BJ Penn.

Cris-Cyborg

It was a fun surprise for MMA fans and after all was said and done, Penn took time to talk about the champ, Cyborg with MMAJunkie:

“When I heard that she was taking this fight, I never even questioned like, ‘Oh, she doesn’t have enough time’. None of that came in my mind. I know she’s ready. She’s a professional. She’s more professional than I was when I was there. She doesn’t need a lot of turnaround time. She doesn’t know her size, and she doesn’t know her own power. That’s why when she grabs me. She wanted to judo throw me, and I go, ‘I don’t know. I don’t want to get hurt.’ She’s as strong as anyone I’ve felt.

She knows she’s #1. Right now the best part of her game, of course, we’ve got all the skills, but she knows she’s No. 1. That’s always the best part.”

Cyborg headlines tomorrow’s UFC 222 PPV event when she looks to defend her title against recent Invicta FC bantamweight champion, Yana Kunitskaya.

As for the Prodigy, with the possibility of UFC Hawaii getting closer and closer, it just automatically makes one think of BJ Penn and how an event would feel incomplete without the legendary figure competing.

BJ says he has no plans on fighting but isn’t necessarily retired just yet:

“I’ve got nothing scheduled. I’m just cruising. I don’t know, I guess I don’t know what to say. The door is always open. The door is always open. I don’t ever want to say ‘never’ but I don’t have any plans on fighting. But if you’ve got an idea that you think would work well with me, give me a call.”

If BJ does end up making another return, who would you like it to be against? An old foe stated recently that he would be interested…
