BJPENN.COM Radio returns with another stacked episode!
We kick things off with UFC middleweight Elias Theodorou. “The Spartan” has several projects in the works ranging from producing and starring in an independent film, to breaking the mold as the Ring Boy for Invicta FC and being the face of Pert Plus. On top of all that, Theodorou continues to work his way up the ladder at 185 and looks to keep that momentum going against Trevor Smith at UFC Liverpool on May 27th. We’ll be previewing the matchup, discussing all the side work Elias has on his plate, and a whole lot more.
Our second guest is coming off an impressive first-round submission over Gerald Harris at Bellator 198 over the weekend; BJJ wizard and undefeated MMA middleweight Rafael Lovato Jr. He’ll recap the win over Harris and discuss what’s next in regards to where he fits into the title picture. We’ll also get Rafael’s expert opinion on the Carvalho vs Mousassi matchup and who he believes exhibits the best BJJ technique in MMA.
Next we are joined by UFC light-heavyweight prospect, Dominick Reyes. “The Devastator” will be previewing his upcoming scrap against Jared Cannonier at UFC Chile on May 19th and give us his thoughts on being involved with this historic undertaking of the UFC’s first show in the South American country. We’ll also discuss his plans for the rest of the year and get his take on some important matchups on the horizon at 205.
Then Gilbert Burns returns to the show to recap his sensational walk-off KO against Dan Moret at UFC Glendale. Now riding back-to-back knockout victories, the UFC lightweight is hungry for the next challenge and has been calling out any opponent he can think of. We’ll recap Gilbert’s win, discuss potential matchups moving forward, and where he fits into the mix at 155.
After that we are joined yet again by the No. 2 ranked light-heavyweight in the UFC, Volkan Oezdemir. It was announced that Volkan would be facing Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in Chile this month, however that date was quickly changed to July 22nd in Hamburg, Germany. We’ll get the scoop on how his ongoing legal issues caused the fight to be moved, his thoughts on competing against a legend of the sport in Rua, and why Volkan believes he’ll be competing for the title again in “No Time” at all.
Closing out this episode is the man so many love to hate, the heel of heels in MMA, Colby “Chaos” Covington. Colby returns to discuss a plethora of topics as usual. We’ll get his take on the run-in with “Felony” Charles Bennet, his second spoiling of a huge movie premiere, and some statements made by Joe Rogan about Colby’s outspoken opinion on Jon Jones. You’ll also hear more from Covington on his upcoming showdown with Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 for the interim title, Tyron Woodley, Khabib Nurmangomedov, and much more.
