Adam Martin - December 12, 2021

Watch UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and his hilarious live reaction to Kai Kara-France knocking out Cody Garbrandt at UFC 269. Moreno took the MMA world by storm earlier this year when he submitted his archrival, Deivieson Figueiredo, via third-round rear-naked choke to win the UFC flyweight title. As the division’s champion, Moreno has to always keep a close eye on what else is happening in the 125lbs division. At UFC 269, there was a huge flyweight fight between the former bantamweight champion Garbrandt and one of the top contenders in the weight class in Kara-France. Although Garbrandt was a slight betting favorite heading into the fight, it was Kara-France who beat the odds as the underdog by knocking out Garbrandt in round one.

Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo trilogy official for UFC 270

Adam D Martin - October 14, 2021

The upcoming trilogy fight between UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and his rival Deiveson Figueiredo is now official for UFC 270. Moreno vs. Figueiredo 3 was originally set to take place at UFC 269 on December 11. However, after the UFC added a welterweight bout between Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal to the card, the promotion decided there was enough star power on the card. With UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier and UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena already set for UFC 269, the promotion decided that it would instead move the Moreno vs. Figueiredo fight to 2022.

Dana White explains why the UFC booked Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo 3

Adam D Martin - September 22, 2021

UFC president Dana White explained why the UFC booked Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo 3 instead of Alexandre Pantoja instead. After Pantoja submitted Brandon Royval last month, he was fully expected to get the next title shot against Moreno. After all, Pantoja has two previous wins over Moreno — one in TUF, and one in the UFC — and after submitting Royval in devastating fashion, he deserved the chance to fight for the belt. However, the UFC chose to go a different route as the promotion recently announced that Moreno will not be fighting Pantoja next. Instead, Moreno will be fighting Figueiredo, and the two will meet at UFC 269 in a trilogy fight.

Brandon Moreno reacts following announcement of Deiveson Figueiredo trilogy fight

Adam D Martin - September 16, 2021

UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno reacted following the promotion’s recent announcement of the Deiveson Figueiredo trilogy fight. Moreno and Figueiredo have been involved in a pair of memorable fights over the past year. The two flyweight rivals first met in the main event of UFC 256 last December, with Moreno and Figueiredo fighting to a majority draw after a point was deducted to the champ Figueiredo due to a low blow. The two then rematched at UFC 263 in June, with Moreno submitting Figueiredo in the third round with a rear-naked choke in order to put some closure to their rivalry. However, Figueiredo has made it clear in the last few months that he wants the trilogy fight with Moreno. While Moreno initially said no to it and was expected to fight Alexandre Pantoja, the UFC decided to book Figueiredo to get the title fight at UFC 269 in December. With the fight now official, check out Moreno’s reaction.

Cole Shelton - September 15, 2021

Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo will be running it back again. Moreno and Figueiredo first met at UFC 256 last December. There, they fought to a draw where the Brazilian retained his belt. They then had their rematch in June where Moreno dominated the fight and got a submission victory to become the new flyweight champ. After the fight, the trilogy was talked about but after Alexandre Pantoja defeated Brandon Royval, it looked like that fight would be next.

Deiveson Figueiredo trashes "p*ssy" UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno, demands trilogy

Adam D Martin - August 16, 2021

Deiveson Figueiredo trashed “p*ssy” UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno, while saying that he demands a trilogy fight for the 125lbs title. Figueiredo and Moreno have fought in a pair of memorable fights over the past year. The first time they met was in the main event of UFC 256 last December, with the pair fighting to a majority draw in a “Fight of the Year” candidate. Figueiredo actually would have won the fight had it not been for a point deduction for a low blow. Because it was a draw and since it was such an action-packed fight, the UFC booked the immediate rematch for UFC 263 in June, and this time, Moreno won the belt with a rear-naked choke submission win.

Brandon Moreno promises not to become a jerk now that he is a UFC champion: "I don't want to be that guy"

Adam D Martin - July 21, 2021

UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno promises not to become a jerk now that he is a UFC champion, saying that “I don’t want to be that guy.” Moreno defeated rival Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 263 last month in a rematch to claim the promotion’s 125lbs title. In the lead-up to the fight, Moreno was not complimentary towards Figueiredo, who he accused of changing as a person once he became the champion. Now that Moreno himself is holding UFC gold around his waist, he is promising the fans that he will not change and, in his words, turn into what he calls an “asshole.”

Brandon Moreno lists potential opponents for first flyweight title defense, Cody Garbrandt on the list

Adam D Martin - June 17, 2021

UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno listed potential opponents for his first flyweight title defense and Cody Garbrandt on the list. Moreno submitted Deiveson Figueiredo in the third round with a rear-naked choke to become the new UFC flyweight champion this past weekend at UFC 263. Given that he and Figueiredo have now fought twice, with the first fight being a draw, there is the chance that the UFC could run the trilogy fight back immediately given how exciting the first two fights have been. But with Moreno making the rematch look easy, there is also the chance that someone else gets their chance to fight for the belt, and Moreno has a few names in mind.
