According to a report from ESPN, Bellator MMA has booked a middleweight title super fight between divisional champion Gegard Mousasi and welterweight champion Rory MacDonald.

The fight is expected to occur on September 29, when Bellator returns to San Jose, California. This card, which is shaping up to absolutely massive for the promotion, is also expected to feature a fourth fight between light heavyweight legends Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei Silva.

Gegard Mousasi (44-6-2), who is the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, last fought in late May, in the main event of Bellator 200, when he captured the Bellator middleweight strap with a first-round TKO of dangerous Brazilian finisher Rafael Carvalho. With this win, Mousasi moved to 2-0 in the promotion, having debuted with a decision defeat of Alexander Shlemenko late in 2017.

Rory MacDonald (20-4) , meanwhile, last fought in January, when he defeated Douglas Lima via hard-fought decision to capture the Bellator welterweight belt. This was his second victory in the Bellator cage. His first came at the expense of British knockout artist Paul Daley in 2017. If MacDonald wins this fight and swipes Mousasi’s middleweight belt, he’ll become the first fight in Bellator history to wear gold in two divisions concurrently.
