It’s officially fight week for what may very well be the most highly anticipated heavyweight fight of all time. UFC 220 takes place this Saturday in Boston, Massachusetts and is headlined by the reigning champion who’s looking to make history, Stipe Miocic when he takes on the frighteningly powerful rising star, Francis Ngannou. Before Ngannou earned his shot by knocking out the top contender, Alistair Overeem in devastating fashion, the former multiple time kingpin of the big men, Cain Velasquez was expected to be Miocic’s next challenger upon his return.

Unfortunately for Velasquez, he has been riddled with injuries throughout his MMA career. For the most part, it began after he initially became champion in 2010 after defeating Brock Lesnar then has been a continual trend since then.

The American Kickboxing Academy staple, Velasquez last fought at UFC 200 in the Summer of 2016. He took care of business relatively easily and showed some new tricks by dispatching Travis Browne in just one round. After the win, Velasquez was booked to rematch former champion, Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207. But then the ol’ injury bug struck again as Velasquez was forced out due to bone spurs in his back which eventually led to surgery and a delayed return.

Today, Velasquez posted a picture of himself at the state of the art, UFC Performance Institute with a caption implying that some business may have been discussed during his visit.

Don’t call it a comeback.

Well if it’s not a comeback then what is it, Cain?!

The two-time UFC champion has been one of the best heavyweights of the last decade and is still considered one despite his lack of activity. Velasquez has only fought twice since 2013 and gone 1-1 in those outings. The loss being only the second that he’s suffered in his career which was to Fabricio Werdum in Mexico City when he lost his title.

Who do you want to see Cain Velasquez fight when he presumably returns?
