Chael Sonnen ready to put friendship aside for Nick Diaz fight?
Just several weeks ago, former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen, and MMA veteran Nick Diaz, both celebrated the end of their suspensions.
Sonnen was suspended 2-years for a pair of failed drug tests back in 2014 prior to his scheduled fight with Vitor Belfort. After it was revealed that he failed the drug tests, Sonnen retired from MMA. Despite that, now that his suspension is up, ‘The American Gangster’ is going through the USADA testing process to find out if he is eligible for returning to the UFC.
Nick Diaz on the other hand was initially suspended 5 years for a failed marijuana drug test. After much protesting from the MMA community, Diaz’ suspension was changed to an 18 month retroactive suspension. With his suspension now up, newly crowned UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is looking for a fight with the Stockton native.
Now, FrontRowBrian has released a quote from Sonnen on the potential fight with Diaz:
Chael on rumored Nick Diaz fight: "Haven't spoken to Dana. I don't have a license/bout agreement.Nick is a friend but so was/is Brian Stann"
