Chael Sonnen says no way Conor McGregor would have been as big of a star back in the earlier days of the UFC

Chael Sonnen feels that the UFC has gotten soft with how the biggest star in the promotion is a featherweight fighter.

The Notorious one

Sonnen spoke on the Three Amigos podcast recently about how “The Notorious” would not be the star he is back in his days of the UFC.

“Today, they’re just a bunch of punks. Man, you let Conor come in the back, and he’s just gonna run the company? In a million years that wouldn’t happen on my watch. And the guys that I came before. I come in acting like that… the Randy Coutures of the world would have pulled me aside and said, ‘Listen kid, this is how it’s done.’

“These guys in the UFC let it happen. ‘Hey dude, you’re 145 pounds. Show up in a goofy shirt with sunglasses and take over this interview.’ You’ve got to be kidding me. You’ve got to be kidding me. The back didn’t used to be ran like that man. The back was ran by men.”
