“Chuck Liddell has been saying, ‘hey I wanna come back and fight’. And he’s in the gym and I do believe him. I’ve gone back and forth on that, right? I do believe he wants to do that. Whether that happens, we’ll see. But Tito [Ortiz]…has now responded. And said, ‘I would do the trilogy fight with Chuck in the UFC’.
You don’t give that to [Bellator President, Scott] Coker?! You don’t give Coker the opportunity? You’re going to do it in the UFC?! You finished your career at Bellator… You got treated great at Bellator. You come to the Bellator shows!
First off… Unloyal, scumbag move. Second off, from a PR perspective, how stupid could you be? You’re not gonna get that fight in the UFC. That isn’t gonna happen. So now, you’ve showed your loyalty, you’ve showed your cards and you’re not gonna get it.
He never ceases to amaze me when he opens his mouth How dumb that son of a bitch is.”
Chael Sonnen and Tito Ortiz certainly have their history. As do Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz who have fought each other twice, both times coming under the UFC banner and both times resulted in victories for “the Iceman”, Liddell.
Despite their retirements, both have teased out wanting potential comebacks and Liddell has even said he would like to comeback against Sonnen if possible(something Sonnen was also open to).
The Iconic former five-time UFC light heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell has been retired since 2010 and last fought in a losing effort against a fellow legend, Rich Franklin. Franklin was actually a replacement for the injured Ortiz in this fight who was coaching against Liddell on season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter that year.
How much interest do you have if any in these two light heavyweight legends going at it one more time?
