Charles Oliveira has issued a warning to Alex Volkanovski following talks of his possible move to the UFC lightweight division. It’s true that Volkanovski (25-1 MMA) is just coming off a victory against Max Holloway (23-7 MMA) at UFC 276 on July 2nd. It was the third time the two featherweights had met in the Octagon and the third loss for ‘Blessed‘. Volkanovski seems to be impossible to beat, his only defeat was way back in 2013 against Corey Nelson (19-8 MMA).

Michael Chandler is eyeing a fight with Islam Makhachev for the vacant lightweight title next time out. The lightweight title was vacated when Oliveira missed weight for his UFC 274 fight against Justin Gaethje. Oliveira ended up winning the fight and Dana White said he would be one-half of a vacant title fight. Yet, he has recently talked about wanting to face Conor McGregor so Chandler says if the Brazilian really wants that fight, he believes he should face Makhachev for the vacant belt.

Oliveira (33-8 MMA) was stripped of his title after missing weight against Justin Gaethje (23-4 MMA) at UFC 274 in May of this year. Oliveira did win the match via rear-naked choke just 3:22 into the first round.

Ferguson and Oliveira met back at UFC 256 in December of 2020 and it was the Brazilian winning a one-sided decision. However, after the fight, Ferguson made it clear he didn’t have time to train properly for the bout as it was short notice. With that, he didn’t train grappling and now he has taken to social media to say if he has a real training camp he would beat Oliveira if they were to rematch.

Dustin Poirier believes Charles Oliveira could have done more to make weight at UFC 274. Charles Oliveira (33-8 MMA) was forced to vacate his lightweight belt after he missed the 155 pound mark by 1/2 a pound at weigh-ins prior to his UFC 274 title fight against Justin Gaethje (23-4 MMA). The Arizona commission did give the Brazilian an extra hour to bring down his weight, but Oliveira was unsuccessful in doing so. While the fight went on and Oliveira defeated Gaethje in Round 1 on May 7th, the championship title was no longer his.
