Chris Daukaus tells the UFC to "pull him from the rankings" after Shamil Abdurakhimov withdraws from fight

Adam D Martin - July 29, 2021

UFC heavyweight Chris Daukaus told the UFC to “pull him from the rankings” after Shamil Abdurakhimov withdrew from their upcoming fight. The heavyweight matchup pitting Daukaus vs. Abdurakhimov was expected to be the co-main event of this weekend’s UFC Vegas 33 card, but the fight was canceled when Abdurakhimov was forced out due to COVID-19 protocols with his camp. For Abdurakhimov, this was yet another canceled fight for the Russian, who hasn’t fought since a TKO loss to Curtis Blaydes at UFC 242: Nurmagomedov vs. Poirier in September 2019. Since then, Abdurakhimov’s last five fights have all be canceled. But despite having not fought in nearly two years, for some reason, Abdurakhimov is still ranked in the top-10.

Chris Daukaus expects to finish Shamil Abdurakhimov and get a "big-name" opponent next

Cole Shelton - July 26, 2021

Chris Daukaus didn’t expect that he would be fighting Shamil Abdurakhimov. Daukaus, who joined the UFC in August of 2020, is already 3-0 in the promotion with three first-round knockouts. After his last win over Aleksei Oleinik in February, he expected he would get another ranked opponent next, and was unsure if it would be in the top-10.

Chris Taylor - February 20, 2021

A heavyweight bout featuring Chris Daukaus squaring off with Aleksei Oleinik took place on tonight’s UFC Vegas 19 main card. Oleinik (59-15-1 MMA) was looking to get back into the win column this evening, this after suffering a TKO loss to Derrick Lewis in his most previous effort. Prior to that setback, ‘The Boa Constrictor’ had rattled off back-to-back wins over Fabricio Werdum and Maurice Greene.
