UFC Liverpool winner Claudio Silva says “scum of the sport” Nordine Taleb tried to start brawl post-fight

Last weekend, during the UFC’s first show in Liverpool, England, Brazil’s Claudio Silva returned from a four-year hiatus to defeat Canada’s Nordine Taleb by first-round submission. Apparently, however, the pair very nearly went at it after the fight too.

According to Silva, who spoke to BloodyElbow post-fight, Taleb approached him in the UFC fighter hotel, where he verbally attacked him and challenged him to another fight.

“Nordine Taleb is a very disrespectful individual,” Silva said. “He’s really arrogant. After the fight, I tried talking to him and he told me not to talk to him. Afterwards, I was sitting at the hotel and he walked by me and I greeted him. He turned around and said ‘F—k you, you son of a bitch. You’re a piece of sh-t. I’ll beat you 10 times out of 10. Let’s go right now’. I was like ‘What’s your problem? Are you crazy?’ and he replied by saying ‘If anybody talks to me like that, I’ll kill them. You’re nobody, you’re sh-t.’

“I think the UFC should do something about it,” he added. “Can you imagine if my mom or my son were there to hear those things? That guy is the scum of the sport. That’s what I think. He had 15 minutes to beat me and couldn’t do it. Now he wants to fight on the streets? He has to be banned from the sport.”

While Taleb’s side of this story has not yet been shared, he did take to Twitter post-fight, where he protested his stoppage loss to Silva.

“I don’t like excuses but something strange happened when ref stopped me defending the choke telling me I was grabbing his glove the I froze for a second and Silva took advantage… complete miss judgment the ref !! I’m so mad!”
