CM Punk's UFC 225 loss to Mike Jackson overturned due to positive marijuana test
Cole Shelton - July 7, 2021
CM Punk is no longer 0-2 as an MMA fighter, instead, he’s 0-1 and one No Contest. Punk, a WWE star, crossed over into MMA and made his pro debut at UFC 203 against Mickey Gall where he suffered a first-round submission loss. He didn’t fight again until June 9, 2018, at UFC 225 where he fought Mike Jackson. Unfortunately for Punk, the fight did not go his way and he dropped a clear-cut decision to fall to 0-2 and White made it clear that would be the end of Punk in the UFC.

Tom Taylor - February 21, 2020
Nick Diaz and CM Punk are both still undergoing drug tests from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the official anti-doping partner of the UFC. The same goes for suspended former bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw, ostensibly retired former light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson, and several other fighters we haven’t seen compete in awhile.

Adam Martin - January 26, 2020
Former UFC welterweight and WWE superstar CM Punk says he is not interested in an MMA match against YouTuber Logan Paul. Adam D Martin - November 10, 2019
After winning their rematch on Saturday night in Los Angeles, YouTuber KSI says that Logan Paul should fight CM Punk next in MMA. After fighting to a majority draw in an amateur boxing match last summer, the pair were booked for a professional boxing match rematch. KSI won the rematch this weekend on DAZN by split decision, with the judges scoring it 56-55, 55-56 and 57-54 in favor of KSI. Paul was deducted two points by the referee for an illegal shot during the contest, and would have won the decision had those points not been deducted.

CM Punk addresses potential fight with YouTube star Logan Paul
Tom Taylor - November 27, 2018
After losing his first two mixed martial arts bouts — first a submission defeat to Mickey Gall, then a submission setback against Mike Jackson — former pro wrestling star CM Punk now finds himself in a tough situation. Although he undeniably possesses the heart required to compete as a professional fighter, he is simply at a technical deficit when compared to most of his potential opponents. Except, say, somebody like Logan Paul. Logan Paul, a famous YouTuber, recently competed in a celebrity boxing match opposite fellow YouTube star KSI. After this bout, Paul discussed a potential move to the UFC, and given his inexperience, was mentioned as a potential opponent for CM Punk. Even UFC color commentator Joe Rogan discussed the possibility.
CM Punk updates on status with the UFC
Tom Taylor - November 22, 2018
Former pro wrestler CM Punk has now fought twice in the UFC’s Octagon, but neither fight has worked out the way he planned. While he showed immeasurable heart in both contests, it was clear that his ability was not quite up to snuff, as he was first stopped by Mickey Gall, and then thumped to a decision by Mike Jackson. All the same, CM Punk says he is still under contract with the UFC, and that he is still undergoing testing through the promotion’s anti-doping partner the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
CM Punk joins Cage Fury Fighting Championship as a commentator
Cole Shelton - November 8, 2018
To put it bluntly, Phil “CM Punk” Brooks’ MMA career did not go well. The former WWE star is now hoping commentary will be a better fit. Punk made his MMA debut at UFC 203 where he lost via first-round submission to Mickey Gall. Punk would then take almost two years off before returning only to lose a unanimous decision to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in June.

Under the MMA Microscope | Is equality in the UFC a myth?
Drake Riggs - June 22, 2018
There are a handful of things that can be considered wrong with the UFC. Especially since the organization was purchased by WME-IMG. Something that doesn’t seem to get talked about enough is that the UFC could be casting a mythical shadow of equality over the fans and more importantly, the fighters themselves.
Sage Northcutt gives his take on CM Punk's UFC 225 fight
Tom Taylor - June 20, 2018
CM Punk’s second MMA fight, which pitted him against Mike Jackson at UFC 225, didn’t go a whole lot better than his first. Though the former pro wrestler managed to survived until the final bell, he was soundly beaten for the bout’s duration — on the feet and on the mat — erasing any lingering hope that he might have what it takes to cut it in the perilous world of cage fighting. Yet just as he did in his first fight, a first-round submission loss to Mickey Gall, Punk showed that he’s got a toaster-sized heart thumping away inside his tattoo-covered chest. Though he is clearly short on the ability required to thrive as a mixed martial artist, he is long on guts, and that fact impressed many of the UFC’s top fighters.

CM Punk's grappling coach has a suggestion for his future in combat sports
Tom Taylor - June 15, 2018
CM Punk’s sophomore UFC effort, a decision loss to Mike Jackson, didn’t go a whole lot better than his first, a first-round submission loss to Mickey Gall. Despite his unfortunate 0-2 record, however, nobody is questioning Punk’s heart. Over the course of his two MMA bouts, the 39-year-old former pro wrestler showed that, while he may be short on actual ability, he’s long on guts and toughness. That seems to be one of the main takeaways for Punk’s jiu jitsu coach, Daniel Wanderley.
Dana White has some choice words for CM Punk's haters
Tom Taylor - June 15, 2018
Last Saturday, in the first bout of the UFC 225 main card, former pro wrestler CM Punk stepped into the cage with Mike Jackson, keen to erase the memory of his disastrous MMA debut, in which he was thrashed to a first-round submission by Mickey Gall. Regrettably, Punk’s sophomore effort went no better than his first, as he was battered to a lopsided decision loss. In the wake of Punk’s latest lost, opinions on his MMA run have varied. Some admire his ambition and his heart. Others are more focused on the fact that he seems to lack the physical tools to cut in a cage fight. In the opinion of UFC President Dana White, you have to respect what the former pro wrestler attempted to do. If you don’t, well, you’re a “fucking idiot.”
