CM Punk gives update on back injury, UFC debut
After Mickey Gall won his UFC Fight Night 82 scrap against Mike Jackson, it was announced that Jackson would fight CM Punk in Punk’s UFC debut at UFC 200.
Shortly after that, Punk announced that he had injured his back and would no longer be able to compete at UFC 200. While so far there has been no update on how soon Punk would be able to return to the Octagon, Punk assured his fans that he would be making his UFC debut sometime soon.
He spoke on The MMA Hour to discuss his debut:
I am going to fight, it’s going to be this year. I see the doctor tomorrow and I am going to talk to him to see about other extracurricular activities I can do to kind of speed this along. See if I can do acupuncture again, things like that. …
Don’t worry haters, I’m going to fight and it’s going to be f–king fun and awesome and you are going to be real upset. I just don’t want to say anything because I have learned my lesson. I have optimistic goals and we are just going to see if my back can cooperate with that.
With UFC 200 right around the corner in July, do you think Punk will be ready in time?
