CM Punk got PAID in his UFC debut

CM Punk may have only spent a little over two minutes in the octagon, but he got some serious money for those two minutes.

Punk earned $500,000 in a losing effort to Mickey Gall at UFC 203, where Gall submitted Punk with a rear naked choke after dominating the former pro wrestler on the ground for the duration of the fight.

“I’m jealous, I’d like to be making that kind of money,” Gall’s teammate Jim Miller told the MMA Hour on Monday. “I never made that kind of money (in the UFC). It’s frustrating that I can have two dozen fights the UFC, had a bunch of fight of the night awards, but I’m still not making that kind of money. It’s frustrating.”

Fellow WWE superstar turned UFC fighter Brock Lesnar earned $250,000 in his octagon debut, while famed boxer James Toney raked in $500,000 in a loss to Randy Couture back at UFC 118.

“(Mickey) was making I think $10k to show and $10k to win in his first UFC fight,” Miller said on Gall’s purse.

No word yet on if we will see Punk in the octagon again, but Dana White has suggested that he probably won’t have his next fight in the UFC.

Do you feel as if Punk’s payday is fair? Or should his purse have been more commensurate with other fighter’s debuting in the UFC?
