Cody Garbrandt says TJ Dillashaw ended training partner Chris Holdsworth’s career

Back in November of 2013, Team Alpha Male‘s Chris Holdsworth won season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter with a second-round rear-naked choke win over Davey Grant. In May of 2014, he scored a decision win over Chico Camus, moving to 2-0 in the Octagon and 6-0 overall, and establishing himself as one of the brightest young prospects in the UFC bantamweight division.

He has not been seen in the cage since.

The reason for Holdsworth’s long absence from the cage, of course, is widely known. He has been dealing with some unfortunate concussion issues, which have prevented him from fighting, but at least allow him to train and coach at Team Alpha Male.

While we have known for some time that Holdsworth has been dealing with concussion troubles, the cause of these concussions has remained a mystery. It’s possible that UFC bantamweight champ Cody Garbrandt just shed some light on their cause.

In a fiery Wednesday morning Tweet, Garbrandt accused estranged former teammate TJ Dillashaw of ending Holdsworth’s career in training. Garbrandt then stated that this incident occurred under the leadership of Duane Ludwig, who used to serve as a coach at Team Alpha Male.

While this claim from Garbrandt is certainly interesting, there is currently no way to verify its validity.

Ludwig left Team Alpha Male after a brief but very successful stint as the team’s coach. Not long thereafter, Dillashaw departed Team Alpha Male for Colorado, where he now splits his time between Ludwig’s dojo and Team Elevation.

Dillashaw, who is the former bantamweight champion, will have the chance to reclaim the throne at UFC 213 on July 8, when he challenges his former teammate Garbrandt for the title. Before their fight in July, Garbrandt and Dillashaw have served as opposing coaches on the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, which has finished filming and began airing last night.
