Cole Shelton - January 6, 2022

Sean O’Malley doesn’t have much interest in facing Cody Garbrandt next. So, after Garbrandt was knocked out by Kai Kara-France in his UFC flyweight debut, he hinted at possibly moving back up to 135lbs to fight O’Malley.

It was supposed to be a moment of rejuvenation for the former bantamweight king but instead, Kara-France put a first round beating on him before Herb Dean stepped in and put an end to proceedings.

UFC 269 Bonus Report: Kai Kara-France earns 'POTN' for KO of Cody Garbrandt

Chris Taylor - December 11, 2021

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC 269 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier. The highly anticipated lightweight title fight produced one of the craziest opening rounds in UFC history. Dustin Poirier was able to drop Charles Oliveira on two occasions and appeared to be cruising towards his much desired title win. However, in round two ‘Do Bronx’ was able to score an early takedown and road out the round on top while dropping elbows. Then, in round three, Oliveira was able to take the back of ‘The Diamond’ and promptly locked in a rear-naked choke to finish the contest (see that here).

Cody Garbrandt unloads on Wallid Ismail: “I’m going to YouTube my nuts on your big ass forehead”

Adam D Martin - August 22, 2021

UFC bantamweight Cody Garbrandt unloaded on manager Wallid Ismail, telling him that “I’m going to YouTube my nuts on your big ass forehead.” Garbrandt is set to drop down to 125lbs later this year when he takes on Kai Kara-France at UFC 269 in December. With a win over a top contender in Kara-France, Garbrandt would likely be in line to fight for the flyweight belt, which is currently held by champion Brandon Moreno. The former champ is, of course, Deiveson Figueiredo, and he and Garbrandt were actually supposed to fight for the title last year before “No Love” was forced to withdraw due to health issues. There have been some suggestions that Garbrandt could fight Figueiredo at 125lbs in a potential title eliminator, but the UFC instead chose to match up Garbrandt with Kara-France, leaving Figueiredo without a dance partner at the moment.

Cody Garbrandt sends a message to Sean O’Malley after booking his UFC flyweight debut

Harry Kettle - August 3, 2021

Cody Garbrandt has sent a departing shot to Sean O’Malley after his flyweight debut was officially announced. In the wake of his defeat to Rob Font earlier this year, Garbrandt has been forced to reflect on his time at 135 pounds and what will come next for the former UFC bantamweight champion. While many believe he can still be a top contender, others worry that his time as an elite member of that division has come and gone.

At this time, it’s uncertain whether that will be a pay-per-view event or just a Fight Night. The location of the event is also unknown.

Cody Garbrandt slams TJ Dillashaw for comments made ahead of UFC return: “Nothing honest about this guy”

Adam D Martin - July 23, 2021

Cody Garbrandt slammed TJ Dillashaw for the comments he has made ahead of his UFC return, saying there is “nothing honest about this guy.” Dillashaw returns to the Octagon this Saturday night in the main event of UFC Vegas 32 when he takes on former training partner Cory Sandhagen. Another former training partner of Dillashaw’s is Garbrandt, his former rival who he knocked out twice in UFC bantamweight title fights. Ahead of his return to the Octagon, Dillashaw has been making the media rounds and talking about his two-year suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, which he readily admits he used and served his time for. While a lot of fans and media have been praising Dillashaw for being open and honest about his past drug use in the sport, Garbrandt believes that there is nothing honest about what Dillashaw is saying.
