Colby Covington blasts “slob” Mackenzie Dern for missing weight at UFC 224
Jiu-jitsu ace Mackenzie Dern (6-0 MMA) will return to the octagon at tonight’s UFC 224 event in Brazil where she will square off with Amanda Cooper.
The Dern vs. Cooper fight will take place at catchweight, this after Mackenzie badly missed the strawweight limit (116 pounds) by coming in at 123-pounds.
Mackenzie Dern was fined 30% of her fight purse for her botched weight cut, 20% of which will go to her opponent Amanda Cooper.
This marks the third time in her seven professional mixed martial fights that Mackenzie Dern has missed weight.
Those ugly numbers spawmed a ton of backlash for Dern on social media, as a number of fighters including her UFC 224 Amanda Cooper took to social media to voice their displeasure with Dern’s unprofessionalism.
Not surprisingly, UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington was one of the fighters who decided to chime in and take a shot at Mackenzie Dern. “Chaos” released the following statement and comparison for Dern on Twitter:
First .@MackenzieDern forgets how to speak English. Now she forgets how to make weight. What a slob. Definitely not a 7 & ⬆️. #ufc224 pic.twitter.com/sN8nsdezyS

The brash UFC welterweight, who will fight Rafael dos Anjos for the promotions interim 170-pound title at June’s UFC 225 event in Chicago, was not alone in his critizism of Dern.
UFC women’s strawweight standout Felice Herrig also took to social media to slam Dern.
Hey McEnzie. Make F*** ing weight or move up #ufc224

After missing the strawweight limit of 116-pounds for the third time in her young career, is it only right that the UFC forces the jiu-jitsu specialist to move up to it’s newly added UFC flyweight division? Sound off PENN Nation!
