Colby Covington gives Joe Rogan “a pass,” won’t slap him in Chicago

Colby Covington is feeling merciful.

Contrary to his recent comments, the UFC 225 interim welterweight title challenger won’t be slapping Joe Rogan if they cross paths in Chicago this weekend.

“I’ve decided to let things go with Joe. I decided to give him a pass. I’m feeling good, I’m in the spirit,” Covington said on a recent episode of UFC Tonight (transcribed by Adam Guillen Jr. for MMAMania). “It’s title fight week, I’m about to make a lot of money with more zeroes to my pay check, so I am feeling good. I’m going to give Joe a pass.”

Covington first said he was thinking about slapping Joe Rogan on an episode of BJPENN.COM Radio. This comment was in response to Rogan warning Covington to be careful what he says about Jon Jones, in the event that he and Jones cross paths.

“I think Joe Rogan should worry about what he’s saying about me because we might just meet face to face soon in the near future,” Covington said. “He might be commentating that Chicago card, so that’s kind of hypocritical of him to say something like that because when he’s talking about me, we might be face to face. I might just have to slap him.”

On a more recent episode of BJPENN.COM Radio, Covington claimed that his beef with Rogan was still sizzling.

“His little mouth was trying to run and say things when he shouldn’t have an opinion,” Covington said on the show. “You’ve never been in an Octagon, you don’t have any experience fighting. Just ’cause you do these little Tae Kwan Do tournaments and you can’t even get first place in those, doesn’t mean you can come talk to the King of Chaos, AKA the new welterweight king on June 9th.”

“[The beef will] be squashed when he stops running his little mouth like his opinion matters,” Covington continued. “His opinion is irrelevant. He thinks he has a say in everything and he’s a biased announcer as it is.”

From the sounds of it, however, Colby Covington will be letting Joe Rogan off the hook.
