On Tuesday afternoon, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was notified of a potential anti-doping violation by The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Fabricio Werdum of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on April 25, 2018,” a UFC statement on the matter read.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Werdum. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”

Not long after this unfortunate news surfaced, UFC 225 interim welterweight title challenger Colby Covington took to Twitter to give his take on the situation. Covington’s opinion on the matter, of course, is particularly interesting giving his turbulent history with Werdum, which culminated with a heated confrontation in Australia.

Here’s what Covington had to say about Werdum’s USADA situation. As you probably guessed, the polarizing welterweight star pulled no punches.

“Why am I not surprised that a slime bag like [Fabricio Werdum] is on the juice and pissed hot?” Covington said in his Tweet. “You do the crime you do the time, you FILTHY ANIMAL!”

Fabricio Werdum last fought in March, when he surrendered an early lead to succumb to punches dealt by former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov. This loss was preceded by back-to-back wins over Walt Harris and Marcin Tybura. He’s 23-8-1 overall.

Colby Covington, meanwhile, next fights at UFC 225, this June 9 in Chicago, where he’ll battle Rafael dos Anjos for the interim welterweight title. He’ll enter the cage on the heels of an impressive October defeat of Demian Maia. He’s 13-1 overall.

What do you think of Colby Covington’s take on the Fabricio Werdum situation?
