Colby Covington trashes Darren Till for “neglecting” family, landing “zero significant strikes” at UFC 228

By Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018

Darren Till’s UFC 228 welterweight title shot did not go as he planned, as he was out-fought and ultimately submitted by the champion Tyron Woodley. Colby Covington, who is expected to get the next crack at Woodley, has not hidden his opinions about Till and Woodley since then.

Speaking on The Luke Thomas Show on Monday, Colby Covington trashed Till for his failed title shot. He also went after Till for some pre-fight comments he made, in which he discussed his singular focus ahead of his fight with Woodley, suggesting that it was more important to him than even his family.

“Till’s just an overrated doughboy that had a whole lot of hype,” Colby Covington said (transcript via MMA Fighting). “He talked the talk, but he couldn’t walk the walk like me so he needs to leave it to the big boys. He beat a crippled old ‘Clownboy’ and got a gift in his hometown against the ‘Choirboy’. He should have never been rewarded with a title shot for missing weight in a third of his UFC fights.

“Good thing he neglected his family to land a hot zero significant strikes in two rounds.”

Colby Covington also trashed fellow welterweight contender Kamaru Usman, who was on tap to replace Woodley or Till in the event that either man couldn’t fight at UFC 228. Covington went after Usman for his pre-fight premonition that he would become champion at UFC 228.

“That broke b*tch ‘Marty’ ain’t even in the picture,” Colby Covington said. “What happened to that feeling in his soul that he was going to be champ last weekend? Ha ha ha, Saturday night was the closest he’ll ever get to a title fight and that’s front row like the mark he is. That bitch is my biggest fan. He talks a lot of s**t about me, but he won’t do s**t but keep watching my greatness from the sidelines, junior.”

What do you think of these latest scurrilous comments from Colby Covington? Do you think he’s the man to take the title from Tyron Woodley?
