Colby Covington trashes "loser" Leon Edwards after beating Nate Diaz: "There's no honor in beating a guy like that"

Adam Martin - July 25, 2021

UFC welterweight Colby Covington trashed “loser” Leon Edwards after beating Nate Diaz, saying “there’s no honor in beating a guy like that.” Edwards defeated Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 263 in June, but while the Brit clearly won the first four rounds of the fight, most fans only remember the fifth round where Diaz rocked “Rocky” with a big punch and nearly finished him. In the end, Edwards was awarded the win and he is now officially on a top-10 fight unbeaten streak, which is why he believes he should be next in line to fight UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, Covington is confident that he is deserving of being next for the belt.

Colby Covington explains why TJ Dillashaw will lose against Cory Sandhagen at UFC Vegas 32

Adam D Martin - July 22, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington explained why TJ Dillashaw will lose against Cory Sandhagen at this Saturday’s UFC Vegas 32 event. Dillashaw returns from a 30-month layoff this weekend when he takes on his former training partner Sandhagen in a potential No. 1 contender bout at 135lbs. Remember, Dillashaw never lost his belt in a fight, but rather gave it up when he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Dillashaw has been open about why he used PEDs before his fight with Henry Cejudo, but Covington doesn’t stand for anyone that cheats in MMA.

Adam D Martin - July 19, 2021

UFC welterweight Colby Covington sent a message to Ali Abdelaziz, reminding him that “you’re not the matchmaker of the UFC.” Covington is expected to take on Abdelaziz’s client, UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, later this year in a rematch of their “Fight of the Night” in 2019 that Usman won via fifth-round TKO. UFC president Dana White has remarked on numerous occasions that the first Usman vs. Covington fight was one of his personal favorite fights of all time, and he has already confirmed that “Chaos” is next in line to fight “The Nigerian Nightmare.”

Colby Covington believes Conor McGregor's "pride and ego" will keep him in the fight game

Adam D Martin - July 13, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington believes Conor McGregor’s “pride and ego” will keep him in the fight game despite his leg injury. McGregor broke his leg against rival Dustin Poirier in the main event of this past weekend’s UFC 264 trilogy fight. The Irishman threw a kick that Poirier blocked with his elbow and as soon as he stepped down on the mat, his leg gave way. McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh said that McGregor was also dealing with an injury in training camp that may have led to the injury. Either way, McGregor is expected to be on the sidelines with the injury for the rest of the year, and given how devastating it was, some believe he may be out longer.

Colby Covington wants to settle "personal rivalry" with Dustin Poirier inside the Octagon

Cole Shelton - July 12, 2021

Colby Covington and Dustin Poirier haven’t liked each other for quite some time and now “Chaos” wants to settle their differences inside the Octagon. Covington and Poirier had a falling out after Colby picked Khabib Nurmagomedov to defeat his longtime teammate. After that, Poirier said it would be on sight if he saw Covington and the two have continued to take shots at one another. For ‘Chaos’, he says Poirier actually weighs more than him so he thinks it’s a fair fight.

Colby Covington reacts to "dirtbag" Dustin Poirier's win over Conor McGregor at UFC 264: "Obviously, it was a fluke"

Adam D Martin - July 12, 2021

UFC welterweight Colby Covington said that “dirtbag” Dustin Poirier’s win over Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 264 was “a fluke.” Poirier won the trilogy with McGregor on Saturday night at UFC 264 when he got his hand raised via first-round TKO (doctor stoppage) after the Irishman broke his leg near the end of the first round. While it was a strange ending to the fight, it appeared as though Poirier was in control of the match up until the stoppage, and two of the three judges gave him a 10-8 scorecard in the first round. But while Poirier may have been on his way to a win before the injury, the fact the fight ended that way makes some, such as Covington, believe that the end of the fight was more of a fluke than any sort of legitimate win.

Colby Covington shares prediction for Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 3

Adam D Martin - July 4, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington shared his prediction for the upcoming Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier trilogy fight at UFC 264. Covington is a former teammate with Poirier at American Top Team and there is no love lost between them, but even if he doesn’t like “The Diamond,” he recognizes the fact that Poirier has some advantages in this upcoming trilogy fight with McGregor. As far as Covington goes, the third fight between Poirier and McGregor will look more like the second encounter between these two rivals rather than the first, meaning Poirier will win the fight.

Michael Chiesa blasts "sh*t human being" Colby Covington: "He’s just sitting on the sidelines"

Adam D Martin - July 4, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Michael Chiesa blasted “sh*t human being” Colby Covington, saying that “he’s just sitting on the sidelines.” Chiesa takes on Vicente Luque at UFC 265 in August in a battle between top-10 contenders at 170lbs. UFC president Dana White has already confirmed that Covington is next in line to fight champion Kamaru Usman for the belt next, but if you ask Chiesa, Covington has no business fighting for the title when there are several other title contenders out there.

Colby Covington slams welterweight “joke” Stephen Thompson: “He should probably just retire”

Adam D Martin - June 23, 2021

UFC welterweight Colby Covington slammed divisional rival Stephen Thompson, calling him a “joke” and saying “he should probably just retire.” Covington is set to face UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in a rematch later this year for the 170lbs gold, but Thompson is hopeful that he will jump past Covington in the title queue with a win over Gilbert Burns at UFC 264 next month. As the highest-ranked fighter who hasn’t fought Usman yet, Thompson believes that a big win over Burns could help him jump past Covington and Leon Edwards when it comes to the title shot order.

Colby Covington rips Leon Edwards following Nate Diaz fight at UFC 263: "That fight was definitely not of importance to the division"

Adam D Martin - June 16, 2021

Colby Covington ripped Leon Edwards following the Nate Diaz fight at UFC 263, saying it “was definitely not of importance to the division.” Edwards won a unanimous decision over Diaz at UFC 263, but he had to survive a frantic fifth round after he got rocked and wobbled with a Stockton slam followed by a Diaz straight left. Edwards managed to hang on and win the fight, giving him a 10-fight unbeaten streak at the moment, and he wants to fight for the title in his next fight against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. But UFC president Dana White has already said Covington is next in line, and “Chaos” agrees that he’s the rightful No. 1 contender.

Leon Edwards reacts after Dana White reaffirms that Colby Covington is next for UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman

Adam D Martin - June 13, 2021

Leon Edwards reacted after UFC president Dana White reaffirmed that Colby Covington is next in line for UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. Edwards defeated Nate Diaz via unanimous decision in a five-round fight at UFC 263 on Saturday night. The win was Edwards’ ninth victory in a row, save for a No Contest with Belal Muhammad earlier this year. The Brit looks like he is ready to compete for a title and he’s hoping that he gets the opportunity to get his rematch with the champ Usman later this year. But according to White, the next title shot is still going to go to Covington.
