Amir Khan likes his odds against Conor McGregor ahead of potential jump to MMA
Former boxing champion Amir Khan is currently gearing up for his fight with ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on Saturday in Las Vegas. Ahead of that fight, the idea of a potential jump to MMA appears to be on Khan’s mind.
The 29 year old English boxer currently owns a MMA promotion that puts on events in Dubai, and has even used MMA training to prepare for his fight with Alvarez.
He spoke to The Daily Star to discuss a potential jump to MMA, how he would do against Conor McGregor, and how he has used MMA training to prepare for his fight with Canelo Alvarez.
“You never know what will happen in the future – I’d never say no to getting into MMA.
“My speed would be perfect, it’s hit and move. And I can kick hard.
“I’ve already done MMA training. It’s good for preparing to fight a guy like Canelo who likes to put the pressure on.”
Khan, who was formerly the 147 pound boxing champion, would likely compete in the featherweight division in MMA, which is ruled by Conor McGregor in the UFC.
“But if I was to fight the champion around 147lbs I would fancy my chances. McGregor or whoever.”
When boxer James Toney made the jump to MMA, things didn’t go so well. How do you think Khan would do upon making the jump to MMA?
