Conor McGregor: I should be a 2-division UFC champion

Earlier this year, just months after knocking out Jose Aldo to claim the UFC featherweight championship, Conor McGregor was slated to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight championship at UFC 196.

Unfortunately, dos Anjos pulled out of the fight just 2-weeks before the event was slated to take place. Ultimately, the UFC selected Nate Diaz as a fill-in opponent, and he handed McGregor his first UFC loss.

Now, ahead of the pair’s rematch at UFC 203, McGregor admits he should be a 2-division UFC champion right now. He spoke on a UFC 203 conference call:

“Realistically, I should be a two-weight UFC world champion. If I fought Rafael dos Anjos, if he didn’t (espletive) out of that last one and showed up, the shots I cracked Nate in the first eight minutes of that fight would have KO’d Rafael dos Anjos stiff. That’s no question.”

“I would be sitting here right now as a two-weight champion, but I don’t dwell on that,”

Will McGregor be able to defeat Diaz and ultimately challenge for the lightweight championship in the future?
