Conor McGregor claims UFC 200 could have surpassed Mayweather vs. Pacquiao numbers
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao put up the richest fight in boxing sport’s history back in 2015.
Mayweather and Pacquiao crushed the records with reports of 4.4 million pay-per-view buys and a $72,198,500 live gate from 16,219 tickets sold. Although the fight itself was not exciting to the majority of fans drawn to the bout, Mayweather and Pacquiao walked away with giant paydays.
MMA’s biggest draw, Conor McGregor took to twitter on Monday to address some fans and had a bold claim after he was pulled from the noteworthy UFC 200 card for refusing to take part in media obligations to promote the fight.
With Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones now set to headline UFC 200, a fan asked McGregor, “@TheNotoriousMMA you think ufc 200 will sell anything close to 1.5mill?”
McGregor said, “I do not. I had the May/Pac record primed, ready to place MMA at the undisputed top. But it was not to be. #Press”

UFC President Dana White said that McGregor’s last fight with Nate Diaz at UFC 196 sold 1.5 million pay-per-view buys and broke all their previous records. McGregor also holds the record for the UFC United States gate record of $10.1 million from 16,516 sold at UFC 194 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
