Conor McGregor on fighting in Las Vegas: “I estimate that I am going into a war zone here”
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will be looking to avenge the first loss of his UFC career when he squares off with Nate Diaz in the headlining bout of Saturday’s UFC 202 event in Las Vegas.
“Mystic Mac” was a guest on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and was asked if he expects the same amount of support at UFC 202 that he has received in the past while fighting in Las Vegas.
According to Helwani, many Irish fans have tweeted at the popular journalist saying that they cannot afford to make the trip to Sin City this time around.
McGregor agreed with Helwani suggesting that he is likely walking into hostile territory this time around:
“I estimate that I’ll be fighting in enemy territory this time. Usually it’s been home for me in this place (Las Vegas), with the traveling fans. I’m estimating that I’m going into a war zone here. That’s what I’m estimating. That’s what I’ve been preparing for and that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
