From his recent water bottle fight with Team Diaz prior to UFC 202 earlier this month, to being investigated by the Irish police for posting a photo with what many believed to be a gun while riding shotgun in a car, McGregor is no stranger to controversy.

In a recent Instagram picture posted following his majority decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 202, McGregor once again had the internet going wild with mixed emotions.

You need people like me.

While some praised McGregor, saying things such as:

“You are my hero”

“Best Fighter in the world.”

Others were quick to bash McGregor for the picture, and his lack of trigger control:

“Come on mcgregor is that what you want your young fans to see you with a gun in your hand. Than why do martial arts if all you need is a gun. Don’t you think Ireland has seen enough guns. Remember your a roll model for young people.”

“That’s one stupid post. You must have hit your head very hard to fool around with guns.”

“My only gripe is where his finger is”

So far there has been no word yet as to when McGregor will return to the Octagon following his win over Diaz, however the featherweight champ has several options.

UFC President Dana White has stated recently that McGregor will be stripped of his featherweight title if he doesn’t return to 145 to defend his belt against Jose Aldo.

Despite that, McGregor has remained noncommittal about returning to featherweight, stating that his next fight will likely be at 155 pounds. This has led many to believe that he will fight recently-crowned lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight championship.
