Conor McGregor reveals two opponents that he has in mind for his UFC return
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will take his talents to the boxing ring on August 26 in Las Vegas where he will square off with undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
His bout with “Money” could potentially earn “The Notorious” over $100 million dollars, a payday which has made many fans and analysts question if “Mystic Mac” will ever return to fight in the octagon.
While McGregor has remained quiet on the subject, UFC President Dana White and the Irish stars coach John Kavanagh have both stated that Conor is interested in returning to the UFC this December, possibly in Russia.
Although coach Kavanagh did not mention a targeted opponent for his star pupil, it is pretty obvious that top UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, who hails from Russia, would be the likely candidate.
Following the final Mayweather vs. McGregor world press conference tour in London, Conor finally broke his silence on a potential December scrap with “The Eagle”.
“It’s certainly one of the things I would like to do,” McGregor told MMAjunkie backstage at SSE Arena Wembley. “Whether it’s next, I don’t know. I don’t even know how close the Russia thing is. Whether Khabib can pull his (expletive) together; he missed weight.”
Mystic Mac continued:
“There’s a few of them in the mix,” McGregor said. “A few of them need to pull their (expletive) together, though, and get interest going and get me interested. Right now I don’t actually see anything.”
The brash Irish star would then drop a line that will surely cause a stir in the mixed martial arts world.
“That Diaz trilogy is also on my mind,” he said.
