Conor McGregor says Khabib Nurmagomedov would be dead if he’d stepped off the bus in Brooklyn
At Thursday’s UFC 229 press conference, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor assured that Khabib Nurmagomedov would be dead if he’d dared to step off the bus during their infamous April skirmish in Brooklyn.
“If you’d have got off that bus you’d be dead now,” McGregor told Nurmagomedov. “You’d be dead and I’d be in a cell.”
The reason Conor McGregor launched his attack on the bus carrying Khabib Nurmagomedov, as we now know, is because Nurmagomedov had a tense encounter with McGregor’s friend and training partner Artem Lobov several days beforehand.
“You cornered a friend of mine who has nothing to do with it,” McGregor said. “A Chechen man who has nothing to do with anything, and you slapped him and abused him on foreign soil. Your own people, you little rat.”
“You were surrounded by about forty of your teammates, many of them hooded, many of them had their hoods up,” McGregor continued. “They had to be chased out of the hotel.”
In response to these comments from Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov suggested that the Irishman should have messaged him to set up a one-on-one meet-up.
“Shut your fucking mouth about messages,” McGregor scolded when Nurmagomedov suggested this. “Do I look like a bloke who goes around messaging blokes? Fuck you.”
McGregor then reminded that, as he launched his assault on Nurmagomedov’s bus, there was an opportunity to meet, face-to-face, but Nurmagomedov didn’t get off the bus.
“When the person you were looking for showed up, you took a shit on the back of a bus,” McGregor hissed. “So shut your fucking mouth.”
Clearly, the animosity between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor is real. The good news is that the pair will soon have the opportunity to settle their beef, as they’re scheduled to fight for the UFC lightweight title in the main event of UFC 229 on October 6 in Las Vegas.
