Conor McGregor says ‘pull-out merchant’ Khabib Nurmagomedov needs some ‘damn reasons’ to be ‘picked’ next
Everyone is waiting to hear the announcement on what will come next for the current UFC featherweight and UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.
The Irish superstar made history at UFC 205 by beating Eddie Alvarez to become the first concurrent two-weight UFC world champion, holding the titles to the UFC’s 145 and 155-pound divisions.
With Khabib Nurmagomedov’s impressive UFC 205 performance in his fight with Michael Johnson, McGregor spoke about the number 1 ranked UFC lightweight from Russia as a potential opponent.
“He’s fought once in eight years, you know what I’m saying?” McGregor said to the media following his win over Alvarez. “He ain’t fight too frequent for my liking. For me to commit to something like that, I need to see solid proof that people are gonna show up and he’s a consistent pull-out merchant. He had a good performance tonight. Fair play to him.
“We’ll see. We’ll see where it goes,” McGregor added. “I need to see active. I need to see activity. I need to see consistency. I need to see me, you know what I mean? If you want me to come and change your life, if you want me to come pick you, you better have some damn reasons for me to do that. So, we’ll see how that goes.”
With “The Notorious” also announcing that he will be having a baby due in the summer of 2017 and him positioning himself to get some shares in the UFC, it is likely going to be some time before we see what happens next for the double champ. UFC President Dana White has stated that McGregor will not be fighting before the birth of his baby, which is due in May, because he doesn’t want his girlfriend to be stressed by anything to do with a scheduled fight or promotions.
