Haueter is one of the first American black belt jiu-jitsu practitioners and is a part of the “BJJ Dirty Dozen”, which is a group of 12 practitioners outside Brazil to achieve the rank of black belt in BJJ. Haueter received his black belt from Rigan Machado back in 1996.

McGregor posted a photo saying, “An absolute honour to train at the world famous Combat Base garage with the legendary @chrishaueterart today!
Chris is my coach’s, coach’s coach, and is part of the infamous BJJ dirty dozen.
The first 12 non-Brazilian students to ever receive a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!
A true pioneer!
