Conor McGregor’s upcoming pay-per-view in London is cancelled

By Tom Taylor - September 27, 2017

This Saturday night, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was expected to partake in a pay-per-view Q&A in London, England. Regrettably, this event has been nixed.

This news comes from Starsport. At the time of this writing, the catalyst for the event’s cancellation is not known.

McGregor’s anticipated Q&A was supposed to be hosted by former UFC welterweight title challenger turned UFC commentator Dan Hardy. The event was expected to be similar to an event McGregor partook in back in January, which was hosted by Ariel Helwani.

While fans in London will unfortunately have to go without McGregor this Saturday, the good news is that the lightweight champ’s Friday night Q&A in Glasgow, Scotland is expected to go ahead as planned. This event will be hosted by sports anchor Caroline Pearce.

Conor McGregor’s last fight occurred in the boxing ring where, despite a valiant effort, he came up short against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather, succumbing to a 10th round bombardment. His next most recent fight occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where he captured the UFC lightweight title with a knockout of Eddie Alvarez. Given that he still owned the UFC featherweight belt at the time, this made him the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes concurrently.

At present, the details of McGregor’s next fight are unknown. Though he was briefly tied to a late-2017 showdown with rival Nate Diaz, UFC President Dana White was quick to kill these rumors.

McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh, meanwhile, has suggested that another fight in 2017 is probably unlikely.
