Dana White describes Conor McGregor’s reaction to news of Rafael dos Anjos’ injury
By now nearly the entire sporting world knows that Rafael dos Anjos has been forced out of his UFC 196 lightweight title fight against Conor McGregor on March 5th due to a broken foot.
The UFC has been scrambling trying to find an opponent to replace dos Anjos in the main event of the card. Fresh off his win over Alex Oliveira on Sunday night, Donald Cerrone has offered to fight on short notice. In addition Anthony Pettis revealed via Twitter that he is ready to go if need be. Last but certainly not least, Nate Diaz threw his name into the mix of potential opponents when he took to Twitter to tell McGregor to get on his knees and beg.
In an interview with Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, UFC President Dana White opened up on how Conor McGregor reacted to the news of Rafael dos Anjos backing out of the fight.
“When we told Conor, he said, ‘Come on! This [expletive] guy! Oh my God! He’s pulling out?’ But when we went through the options, he said he’d fight any of them.”
“I swear to God, he said, ‘I’ll fight anyone.’ He just doesn’t give a [expletive]. People talk about this strained relationship between us and Conor, and he has a different style than I’ve ever seen, but I have never seen anyone like Conor. The closest was Chuck Liddell, but we’ve never had one like Conor. You think he’s not hurt? But when he says he’s going to fight, he’s going to fight no matter what.”
