Dana White: People right now would love to see Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov the Russian

At this moment, which fighter would you like to see matched up against Conor McGregor?

Many say that UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson makes the most sense. Many others are still hot on the idea of a Nate Diaz trilogy. However, according to Dana White, there are a ton of people that are intrigued by a Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov scrap.

Speaking on the Toucher and Rich radio show on Wednesday, White talked about taking the belt from “The Notorious” if his plans are to not fight until much later in the year. The UFC president then curved around the subject when asked about a trilogy fight between McGregor and Diaz and brought up “The Eagle” instead.

“People right now would love to see Conor McGregor vs. Khabib the Russian,” said White. “And that would be a massive fight. I can do that fight in the United States and it’s big and if I did that fight in Russia, there isn’t a stadium big enough in the country for that fight.”

White went on to explain on the radio show how Nurmagomedov recently had another impressive performance against Edson Barboza at UFC 219 and how he manhandles all of his opponents with his superior ground and pound.

“Everybody has been waiting to see a fight with him and Conor. People believe that this guy will maul Conor McGregor. But that’s what people always believe about Conor. Conor has gone into every fight that he’s ever fought in the UFC. Even the last fight with Eddie Alvarez, Joe Rogan picked Eddie to win that fight and everybody else did, and Conor made it look easy. Then Eddie Alvarez turns around, I don’t know if you guys saw the fight with Justin Gaethje? One of the sickest fights you will ever see. Toe-to-toe for three rounds and then finally Alvarez knocks out Justin Gaethje, who was 18-0. Conor made it look easy when he fought Eddie Alvarez.

“Conor McGregor is an incredible fighter that does not get the credit he deserves cause he talks so much.”
