Dana White Says ‘We’ll Get It Done’ Despite Conor McGregor’s Demands
We don’t have any answers, but the Conor McGregor fight wheels have been turning for the last couple of weeks. The opponent seems like it is nearing closer to becoming Tony Ferguson, but that’s only half the battle. The UFC champ champ has addressed the media and made his behind-the-curtain UFC demands public. He wants to be both a fighter and promoter for the UFC as it pertains to his own fights. He wants to be a ‘true partner’ like the organization was for his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather. Yesterday at the last UFC 217 press conference, it seemed like Dana White is ready to give him whatever he wishes.
“There’s always been, as we go into negotiations with Conor [McGregor]. There’s always all kinds of crazy stuff out there. We always get deals done with Conor. Conor, he’s been easy to deal with and we’ll get it done.” — Dana White at the UFC 217 pre-fight presser.
Dana White also had a similar answer to TMZ:
“Yeah. We’re planning on it [having Conor McGregor fight in 2017]. He said he wants to, and we want him to. So we’ll see what happens. The kid wants some money, the kid wants some stuff. And if there’s anyone out there that’s worth it, it’s Conor McGregor. We’ve always figured it out with him and we’ll figure it out again.” — Dana White speaking to TMZ.
It’s easy to see why the UFC would give in to Conor McGregor’s demands. Every fight he’s been in, at least since Jose Aldo, has skyrocketed the pay-per-view buys. There’s no question he’s made everyone and incredible amount of money and that was before he got the heat coming in from a ‘billion dollar’ fight with Floyd Mayweather. The nugget here though is they still want him to fight in 2017. Tony Ferguson versus Conor McGregor at UFC 219 in association with McGregor Sports and Entertainment? That would be huge for sure.
“I was the promoter and I was the fighter. That must continue in order for me to continue. I’ve got many other entities and many other interests that can carry on. Also, I’m already set for life. So, they must entice me but we’re in negotiations. I’m certainly love to fight, I certainly have a belt to defend, I’m certainly interested in that and we’re in negotiations.” — Conor McGregor to the media at the premiere of his film Notorious.
