At UFC 229, Conor McGregor took on Khabib Nurmagomedov in what would be the biggest pay-per-view in UFC history.

Leading up to the bout, fighters and fans were torn on who would win. Some thought Nurmagomedov would be able to maul McGregor, while others thought Conor would emerge victorious by way of knockout.

Ultimately, Nurmagomedov ended up beating McGregor by submission in the fourth round.

Immediately following the fight, McGregor stated his desire to have an immediate rematch with “The Eagle”.

With that said, UFC President Dana White quickly shutdown talks of any immediate rematch between the bitter rivals.

Despite White’s comments, McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis is confident a second fight with Khabib will happen.

“100 percent it happens again and I can’t wait for it,” Danis said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “In my opinion, well in a lot of people’s opinion he is the best fighter in the world. He will prove that and get that win back.”

Although McGregor lost the first fight, Danis remains confident that McGregor is the better fighter and will prove that in a rematch.

“I don’t think it will ever be dead. I can’t wait for Conor to get that back,” he said. “When he knocks him out it’s going to feel so good. Conor is such a better fighter than him. I can’t wait for everyone to see that.”

However, given the outcome of the first fight and the post-fight melee, many are wondering if the UFC will even book the rematch. But, that isn’t a worry to Danis, who is more than confident a second bout will come to fruition.

“I don’t think so, I don’t know. I can’t think about that. Who knows, that is trying to predict the future,” Danis explained. “All I know is when Conor knocks him out cold it will feel f*****g sweet.

“It will happen, mark my words, trust me. I train with him, I know. Trust me.”

For now, both McGregor and Nurmagomedov remain suspended and no talks of a rematch are present.
