Irish media turns on their own Irishman Conor McGregor immediately after loss to Nate Diaz

The world is a cruel place and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is finding out just who is on his side following his loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196. The two fought in a two-round war where Diaz was able to weather the early storm of McGregor and secure some heavy shots of his own in the second round that led to a rear-naked choke submission calling an end to the bout in the second.

Irish media outlet Rte.ie came out guns firing on the downed McGregor.

With opening and closing quotes in the article saying, “A choke. In more ways than one,” and “He (Diaz) choked a whole lot of hype too,” you have to wonder if the author of the article was just waiting for the day for Conor McGregor lost to roast him before his own country?

While McGregor is still likely to build up big numbers in future fights in the UFC, his aura of invincibility much like Ronda Rousey’s has been shattered and may not hold as much clout as they once did in their pre-fight talk. However, opposing fans that want to see the superstars win and even lose again will surely be keen on their next matches in the UFC. McGregor, much like Rousey now knows who is with him, and who is against him.
