Manny Pacquiao giving Conor McGregor no chance against Floyd Mayweather

This Saturday, famed boxer Manny Pacquiao will step into the Octagon for a highly anticipated return to the ring. Ahead of that fight however, it’s impossible to ignore the magnitude of the impending Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match set to take place on August 26th.

Ahead of his fight on Saturday, Pacquiao spoke to Yahoo sports to discuss the McGregor-Mayweather fight, and why he feels McGregor has no chance against Mayweather, who will be chasing his 50th professional win when he steps into the ring against McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena.

“McGregor has no chance in this fight,” Pacquiao said. “In fact, it could be very boring.”

“There is no way he will be able to land a meaningful punch on Floyd,” Pacquiao said. “How could he? He has no professional experience in boxing.”

“Floyd is a gifted fighter with great defense,” Pacquiao said. “His footwork and reflexes are excellent.”

Pacquiao then echoed a sentiment shared by Golden Boy CEO Oscar De La Hoya, reiterating that the “real” fight for boxing fans is the September 16th middleweight title fight between Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez:

“The real fight and the best fight is [Gennady] Golovkin vs. Canelo [Alvarez]. The best vs. the best. That’s the fight I will be watching.”

Pacquiao of course was handed a rather one sided loss to Mayweather back in 2015, which snapped a 3-fight win streak that saw Pacquiao win the WBO welterweight title in 2013.

Now, in the midst of a 2-fight win streak, Pacquiao hopes a successful title defense against Jeff Horn this Saturday on ESPN moves him one step closer to a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, his ultimate goal according to an interview this week.

Only time will tell if Pacquiao’s prediction for the McGregor-Mayweather fight is accurate.
