“Mexican Boogieman” Tony Ferguson goes after “scared” Conor McGregor on Twitter
On April 7, in the main event of UFC 223, interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson will return to the Octagon to battle undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed title. What exactly that means for Conor McGregor, who still owns the undisputed title, remains to be seen. From the looks of it however, Ferguson feels it’s about time McGregor put his belt down and walked away.
Ferguson went after McGregor on Twitter early on Monday morning, suggesting that the Irishman and his team were scared, and demanding he drop the belt.

“Still My Bitch [Conor McGregor],” Ferguson said in his emoji and hashtag laden Tweet. “Mexican Boogieman Got You, & The Team Scared Hombre. #SetItDownAndWalkAway McNuggets. Tryin’ To Stay In The MMA Spotlight Is Irrelevant Now, Go Cash A Check Boy & Let The Men Defend.”
Needless to say, Ferguson seems to think McGregor is doing what he can to stay in the limelight without actually fighting, and thinks it’s time for the facade to stop.
Tony Ferguson will enter his title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov on an insane 10-fight streak, highlighted by decisive defeats of Abel Trujillo, Gleison Tibau, Josh Thomson, Edson Barboza, Lando Vannata, Rafael dos Anjos, and most recently, Kevin Lee. He’s 23-3 overall.
Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, is a perfect 25-0 as a mixed martial artist. His last nine wins have occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where his most notable triumphs have come against names like Thiago Tavares, Abel Trujillo, Pat Healy, Rafael dos Anjos, Michael Johnson and Edson Barboza.
Who do you think will come out on top in when Tony Ferguson battles Khabib Nurmagomedov? Does the winner fight Conor McGregor?
