Michael Bisping predicts Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez
This Saturday in New York, the UFC will host it’s inaugural event in The Empire State. The card is certainly a historic one, which is stacked from top to bottom with marquee fights. The main event scrap between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has certainly drawn the interest of not just fight fans, but sports fans around the world.
While Mystic Mac has predicted a 1st round KO, something no man has ever been able to pull off against Alvarez, the lightweight champ believes McGregor will gas, much like he did at UFC 196 against Nate Diaz, which will ultimately lead to a win for the lightweight champ.
With that being said, the MMA community has remained divided in regards to their picks, with one side believing McGregor will continue his dominance in the UFC, and the other believing that Alvarez’ wrestling and aggressive pace will prove to be too much for McGregor.
Ahead of the fight, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping spoke to Telegraph.co.Uk about the fight to give his prediction, saying:
“This is a perfect fight for the UFC’s first time at MSG,” said Lancastrian Bisping. “McGregor is trying to get belts in two divisions. That’s just insane. It’s all about where the fight takes place. If Alvarez takes him down, it could be tough for him. This is a classic grappler vs. striker fight. If he’s smart, Eddie will get the take down.”
“This is very unpopular for me to say this, but I see Alvarez winning,” Bisping told FOX Sports. “I’m rooting for Conor, but don’t see it happening. If it stays on the feet, I think Conor can win, but I think Eddie will get the takedown.”
“Conor is the total package. His straight left hand has been the money shot his whole career. Key one, he needs to look for counters. Alvarez is going to be coming forward in this fight. Eddie is going to go for takedown as well and Conor has to defend the takedowns. Finally, he’s got to be unpredictable. He’s got so many weapons. If he uses them all, he might just win the fight.”
While Bisping is taking the lightweight champ, who do you think will emerge from UFC 205 victorious? Sound off below PENN Nation!
