With UFC 202 just over a week away, many fans are wondering whether or not featherweight champion Conor McGregor will return to featherweight after his rematch with Nate Diaz.

Conor McGregor 145

While McGregor has remained noncommittal about returning to featherweight, stating that Jose Aldo is an unreliable opponent, fans are wondering if McGregor will be able to cut back down to 145 after back to back fights at 170 pounds.

Renowned nutritionist George Lockhart spoke to MMAJunkie to discuss the situation, saying:

“For him, cutting three times a year and then not cutting, a lot of people are wondering can he make 145 pounds again, or would it be harder,” Lockhart said. “I would say no, that wouldn’t be an issue.

“The thing about Conor is that he stays lean all the time and is very disciplined. And the leaner you are, the easier the weight cut is going to be, because muscle holds a lot of water.”
