Odds released for potential Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz trilogy fight

Now that UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor‘s anticipated boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is in the rear-view, the world is eagerly awaiting the details of his next fight. The most likely option for McGregor’s next fight seems to be a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz, who he is 1-1 against across two unforgettable 2016 battles.

Diaz won the pair’s first fight, shocking the world by submitting the Irishman in round two. McGregor won the second, picking up a majority decision win over Diaz in a tooth-and-nail, 2016 Fight of the Year contender.

“I have certainly many contenders in the mixed martial arts game,” McGregor told the media shortly after his battle with Mayweather. “I have a trilogy bout with Nate Diaz that’s sitting there, I have options.”

While nothing is official just yet, the odds for a potential McGregor vs. Diaz trilogy fight have now been released (via Oddshark).

These odds list Conor McGregor as a -250 favorite, meaning a successful $250 bet on him would earn you $100. Nate Diaz, on the other hand, has been pegged as a +190 underdog, meaning that a successful $100 bet on him would earn you $190.

We know, of course, that it’s probably going to take a pretty penny to get Diaz back in the Octagon for this third fight with McGregor.

“At least $20 million, $30 million,” Diaz’s boxing coach Richard Perez recently told Submission Radio. “Come on. UFC’s making a whole lot of money, a whole lot of money and they’re pocketing it. They’re giving more to McGregor, so it’s not fair because it takes two in that ring to draw a crowd – I mean, a good two fighters.”

Given that McGregor is expected to pocket north of $100 million for his recent battle with Mayweather, he’s not likely to return to the UFC for any small sum either.
