UFC 205 is just days away from what many are calling the biggest UFC card ever, which will go down at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Headlining the historic card will be UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez defending his belt for the first time against UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. If Alvarez gets his hand raised above “The Notorious,” his stock will surely shoot through the roof taking out one of the biggest stars in the sport. On the other hand, if McGregor finds victory over Alvarez this Saturday, he will make history once again by becoming the first concurrent two-weight UFC champion.

While Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos may not have fought at UFC 196 for the lightweight championship as initially planned, McGregor’s training for dos Anjos very well could have helped him prepare for his current opponent, Eddie Alvarez. McGregor, who faces Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 this Saturday, where he hopes to capture the lightweight championship and become the first man in the history f the UFC to simultaneously hold two championship belts, was set to face dos Anjos in the main event of UFC 196 back in March for the lightweight title. Unfortunately, just two weeks before the fight, dos Anjos pulled out of the fight with a broken foot and was replaced by Nate Diaz, who ultimately handed McGregor the first loss of his UFC career.

It’s no secret that UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor is a bit of a car fanatic. Over the course of his last few fights, the Irish star has assembled a pretty flashy collection of luxury vehicles. Unfortunately for him, most of those cars are in Ireland and Las Vegas – not New York City, which is the setting of his next fight. This weekend, the UFC will make its long anticipated debut in New York City with UFC 205. The card will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between divisional king Eddie Alvarez and featherweight titleholder Conor McGregor.  If McGregor comes out on top in this massive showdown, he’ll become the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes concurrently. When this blockbuster bout was being constructed, their was speculation that McGregor would be forced to vacate his featherweight title, which would of course deprive him of the opportunity to make history as a two-division champ. According to McGregor, however, this was never a real worry, as he’s confident in his ability to call his own shots within the UFC.

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez were a part of a UFC 205 conference call with the media on Thursday. The two opponents had their verbal warfare going back and forth but one of the exchanges, in particular, was quite entertaining. McGregor was asked by a member of the media if he was preparing for Eddie Alvarez’s grinding wrestling style, which he had some trouble with against Chad Mendes at UFC 189 back in July of 2015.

After UFC President Dana White announced that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor would be making the jump to lightweight to fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight strap at UFC 205 on November 12th, the UFC President revealed that McGregor would be making a “personal” announcement, “out of left field” following the fight. While there had been no word as to what McGregor’s big announcement would be, and Irish newspaper printed an article last month with information from McGregor’s camp stating that the champ would be taking over a year away from the Octagon following the fight in order to spend time with his girlfriend, Dee Devlin.
