Justin Gaethje has given some surprising praise to Conor McGregor for what he’s been able to achieve in the sport of mixed martial arts. Later this summer, Justin Gaethje will return to the Octagon to take on Dustin Poirier. Conor McGregor, on the other hand, is expected to battle Michael Chandler in Q3 or Q4 of this year. The Irishman has been out of the cage for two years after suffering a nasty injury against, ironically, Dustin Poirier.

McGregor is set to coach TUF 31 – which airs on Tuesday night – against Chandler and the two will likely fight later this year. It will be the Irishman’s first fight since he broke his leg in July 2021 in the trilogy match against Dustin Poirier.

The Irishman has been inactive since his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, when McGregor broke his leg. As a result, the former champion has been out of the cage for nearly two years.

An injury so severe was met with questions from the 34-year-old if he would ever return to compete again.

Ahead of Tuesday’s first episode of TUF 31, headlined by coaches Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler on ESPN and ESPN+, UFC president Dana White said he was pleased with how the show was filmed. As it has done since 2005, the annual reality television series looks for the next generation of talent to join the UFC roster to become a world champion eventually. Although McGregor, the former UFC multiple-weight world champion, and Chandler, the former UFC lightweight title challenger, have had their fair share of words over the years, White revealed the season’s filming brought out the best in both competitors and how they settled their differences.

UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman has responded to Conor McGregor’s callout. It was recently announced that Coleman would be returning to combat sports for a celebrity boxing match. The 58-year-old last fought professionally in 2010 when he suffered a submission loss to Randy Couture. But, the UFC’s inaugural heavyweight champion has continued to train and coach, and after it was announced he’d be having the boxing match, McGregor showed interest.

Nate Diaz claims Khabib Nurmagomedov avoided a rematch with Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov and McGregor fought in the main event of UFC 229. It was the Irishman’s return to MMA after boxing Floyd Mayweather, while Khabib was looking to defend his 155lbs title for the first time. The build-up was full of trash talk and in the fight, it was Nurmagomedov who won by fourth-round submission.

The former title challenger famously left the promotion following a submission win over Tony Ferguson last September.
