Pat Miletich offers advice to Conor McGregor for Floyd Mayweather
On August 26th, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will face the toughest test of his career as he steps into the Octagon with unbeaten boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
Ahead of the fight, retired boxing champion Paul Malignaggi has given his vague insight into Conor McGregor‘s gameplan for the fight via The Jim Rome Show, saying:
“The way I described this is he knows what he wants to do and he has a method to the mayhem. And the work was good, the work was rough, the work was good. We did 8 hard rounds. We were supposed to do 6, we ended up going 8. I think some of it had to do with the bad blood for maybe he had for some of the talking trash that I did, but we did go pretty good, and he showed me at least he is serious about this.
Now however, with all of that being said, UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich is offering his insight into how McGregor can use his natural southpaw advantage to potentially surprise Mayweather. He spoke on The MMA Hour:
“The constant pressure of the tap of the back of the head and the push to the hip at the same time to make the head pop back to throw stuff,” Miletich said. “The bringing the head through and throwing a lead hook which would be opposite side for him. Stuff like that. Blocking the leg when he gets them in the ropes, because they’re the same stance, lean forward, clashing, block the outside of the leg, and get him off balance and take the leg out from under him. Make him stumble, make him lose his balance, and unload on him.
“A lot of different stuff like that to get people off balance, you know?” Miletich continued. “That’s the thing. And he’s got to go at the same time Mayweather goes. He cannot counter by getting out of the way and throwing back. He’s gone. You have to throw at the exact same time as he throws.”
