Report: Conor McGregor in talks with ‘megabucks’ WWE offer for possible WrestleMania match
Current undisputed UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is a savvy businessman. While many were expecting “The Notorious” to return to fight in the UFC after making his crossover to the sport of boxing, there is a fresh report coming from The Sun that McGregor is in talks with the WWE for an appearance.
According to The Sun, “The Notorious” has been talking with WWE about a “megabucks wrestling match against one of World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest stars.” The match is reportedly being targeted for a date next year. The April Wrestlemania 34 event taking place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans is a possibility.
“Conor is a huge wrestling fan,” said the Sun’s source. “His entire persona on stage he has developed from watching performers like Ric Flair and The Rock.
“These are the top dogs at self-promotion and trash talk. He watched these guys when he was younger.
“This is something he’s always wanted to do.
“The WWE guys have asked him to do shows before with them but the timing was never really right.
“But this time it looks like a deal is going to be locked into place.”
While there are sure to be some skeptics about this career move for McGregor, the UFC and WWE have had a working relationship. We have seen Ronda Rousey in the WWE ring and Brock Lesnar’s last fight in the UFC against Mark Hunt was a “one-off” deal that was made possible by the WWE.
Think we will see Conor McGregor in the WWE ring before we see him back in the UFC Octagon? Let’s chat this one up in the comment section.
